The HD-A850 Crease and Stiffness Tester is a precision laboratory instrument designed for carton board, paper, printing, and packaging industries. It measures two critical properties of board materials: bending stiffness and crease recovery, also called spring back.
Stiffness and crease recovery directly impact how cartons perform on high-speed packaging lines and during manual folding. If creases are not uniform or board stiffness is inconsistent, it can cause cartons to distort, pop open, or put stress on closures, reducing packaging effectiveness.
The HD-A850 tests stiffness in the range of 0-500mN.m with sample thickness from 0-3mm. It delivers high accuracy: ±0.6mN for values below 50mN, and ±1% for higher values, with 0.1mN resolution. Bending length options include 50, 25, 20, 15, and 10mm with ±0.1mm precision. Bending angles of ±7.5° and ±15° ±0.3° are supported, and the arm of focus operates at 200±20°/min for consistent testing speed.
The tester uses a simple lever mechanism and includes a sample cutter for 0.1-1.2mm thickness, ensuring uniform specimens. Compact dimensions of 340×330×340mm and 15kg weight make it easy to place in QC labs. Runs on single phase 220V, 50/60Hz power.
By providing accurate stiffness and crease recovery data, the HD-A850 helps manufacturers optimize board selection, improve folding quality, and prevent issues like carton distortion and closure failure on production lines.
